Sarah Bird, LMSW, graduated from the Silberman School of Social Work, Hunter College, where she trained in clinical social work. She is currently in training at the Family and Couples Treatment Services program of the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy. She also holds a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from New York University.
Sarah specializes in challenging family dynamics, relationship issues, childhood trauma, anxiety, depression, LGBTQIA+ experience, creatives and artists, self-esteem, grief, and career and academic issues. She utilizes a relational, psychodynamic approach, as well as an eclectic approach to relationship therapy including attachment, EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), and family systems theory.
Sarah works with patients to help them gain a deeper understanding of their relationships with themselves and others. She explores the present and memories of the past, along with the patient’s dreams, wishes, fantasies, and creative work. Through a warm and compassionate approach, Sarah supports her patients through the challenging yet rewarding process of uncovering their truest selves.
