I worked in the field of body, movement, and Somatics for over 40 years. First, growing up I was involved in competitive sports (Gymnastics, Swimming and Volleyball).

In my early 20's I attended a dance/dance education and performance program in Berlin (Central Park Studio; Regina Baumgart) that was based on Cunningham technique, but also improvisational forms while also attending The Freie University in Berlin for philosophy and psychology.

During my 20s I took many trainings, workshops, and ongoing sessions in dance, contact improvisation, and body-mind forms at the Tanzfabrik in Berlin where I later taught, and in many other places. Early trainings included Contact Improvisation (Dieter Heitkamp, Steve Paxton, Nancy Stark Smith, Danny Lepkoff), Body Mind Centering (BMC) developed by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, and the Kestenberg Movement Profile (KMP)with Susan Loman. In addition, I worked in performance projects with Min Tanaka, Kazu Ohno, Augusto Boal, Ruth Zaporah, Yoshiko Chuma, Amsterdam Dance School, and many others.

In 1990 I attended training in Laban/Bartenieff Movement analysis (LMA) and became certified as a movement analyst (CMA) with Peggy Hackney, Martha Eddy, Antja Kennedy, Katya Bloom, Karen Bradley, Linda Hartley, Patricia Bardi, and many others.

Privately, I took Alexander Technique and Elsa Gindler classes and practiced dance/movement therapy and Authentic Movement training with Ute Lang and Kedzie Penfield, and Joan Chodorow. I had my studio and led many classes and workshops in Berlin and Germany.

In 1992, I attended a Gestalt therapy training at the Gestalt Institute in Germany that was based in body psychotherapy and influenced by Ferenzci.

Shortly after, I left for the US to get an MA in Counseling and Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT) at Antioch University, NE (Susan Loman; Penny Lewis) that was based on the Kestenberg Movement Profile (KMP). I became a certified KMP analyst. During my time in New England, I also continued to take modules in Bonnie Bainbridge's BMC programs and wrote my Master's thesis about the 'Basic Neurological Patterns' and their implications in psychotherapy, and practiced Zen meditation.

Technique NYC and began working in psychiatric hospitals as a dance/movement therapist and counselor, mostly running groups (sometimes 3 groups a day with an inpatient population), but also seeing individual clients.

In 2000, I decided to get a PhD in clinical psychology at the New School for Social Research (Dr. David Shapiro; Dr. Jeremy Safran). I graduated in 2004/5, with a dissertation about the the intergenerational transmission of affect via nonverbal behavior between parents and children (Chairs: Jeremy Safran, Mark Sossin) and after a postdoc at the White Institute and at the Center for Intensive Treatment of Personality Disorders (CITPD), i started my own clinical practice. I continued working with movement and somatic processes, kept dancing in NYC (Movement Research, Steps) while I went to NYU Postdoctoral Program for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy to become a psychoanalyst (Relational).

I developed my group practice, SYNC Psychological Services, PLLC,  and SYNC Somatics™ which also trains postgraduate clinicians.
